The Rector Area Chamber of Commerce will host their annual membership meeting from 12 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22 at the Rector Community Center. Lunch will be catered by Traveling Wisk and will include lasagna, chicken Alfredo, salad, breadsticks and desserts for a cost of $20 per person the day of the meeting.

Clay County Sheriff’s Department Monthly Report for July 2025 6/1/25- Dester Moore of Poplar Bluff, Mo., was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance SCH VI with intent to deliver and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Mark Nichols is announcing his run for State Representative for District 1, which covers all of Clay County and portions of Randolph and Greene counties. Nichols has a heart to serve others and a passion for conservative values. “If elected, I want to be a voice for what is good and true at our capitol,” Nichols says.

Copper Rose flower and gift shop, located at 300 Main Street in Rector, burned as an inferno on Tuesday morning, Sept. 23, the first call coming in to the Rector Police Department at 6:38 a.m. A passer-by witnessed smoke coming from the flower shop and called 911 which went to Clay County 911. The call was routed to Rector Police Department at 6:38 a.m. An officer was dispatched and he investigated, finding smoke coming from the rear of the building. He attempted to enter at the back door which proved impossible. The officer then contacted the Rector Fire Department.
The Rector Police Department reports that on Tuesday, Sept. 23, four subjects were charged in connection with a large debris fire early Sunday morning, Sept. 21 in the area of West Third Street and Woodland Heights.
